Our Crime, Investigations and Enforcement Team advises individuals and businesses under investigation in complex international cases.
Prosecutions of bribery and corruption cases have been increasing over the years, and we are seeing a significant number of cases being pursued by the SFO in larger cases, and other prosecuting agencies such as the CPS in smaller, but more frequent matters. The UK Bribery Act 2010 governs the conduct of individuals and companies in respect of bribery and related corrupt practices, such as facilitation payments and improper business or hospitality expenses. The Bribery Act, despite being UK legislation, has an extensive jurisdiction and is able to cover misconduct abroad, as well as inside the UK.
Our Team represents individuals facing criminal investigations and prosecutions, often with a multi-jurisdictional aspect and we are able to advise and assist in respect of internal investigations relating to bribery and corruption.
